Leonard Silver has been providing fine English tailoring and ready to wear fashion for men in Hull since 1946. We are one of the oldest established luxury menswear stores in the United Kingdom. Peter Fletcher, our tailor, has been with the company since 1982 making sure our customers are happy with the fit of their garments, he is also the best tea maker in Hull ;-) so pop in for a brew if you're in the area!
According to Eric Silver, Leonard's son, his grandfather Alfred Silver started out in business with actress Maureen Lipman's grandfather and formed Lipman and Silver in the 1920's. Together they ran a tailoring and garment factory based in Witham, East Hull, before parting company years later. Leonard Silver then went on to open his first store in the city centre.
Eric Silver took over the business in 1976 after his father passed away. By this point, he already had two stores of his own under the name Eric Lee.
Following Eric's retirement in July 2017, the legacy of Leonard Silver continues with new owners who now incorporate modern technology and a new brand of products.
