Finding a proper tailor in Sheffield doesn't mean travelling to London. Leonard Silver has been fitting bespoke and made to measure suits across South Yorkshire since 1946 including regular client visits to Sheffield. If you'd rather not make the journey to our Hull store, we'll come to you.
How the Travelling Tailor Service Works
The process is straightforward.
We arrange a first appointment at a location that suits you, your home, your office, or a convenient venue in Sheffield. At that visit, we take a full set of measurements: chest, waist, seat, sleeve length, back length, inside leg, and shoulder width. We discuss cloth, style, and the occasion you're dressing for.
From there, you choose from our range of cloth samples — sourced from British and European mills including Dugdale Bros and a wide selection of Yorkshire wools. We then arrange construction of your suit to the measurements and specifications agreed.
A second fitting either in Sheffield or in store this allows us to make any final adjustments before the suit is finished. Most made to measure suits are completed within 10–12 weeks. We'll agree a timeline with you at the first appointment.
What We Bring to You
Our travelling tailor carries a full selection of cloth samples to every appointment. That includes:
- Wool and wool-mix suitings — weights for every season, from lightweight 100s to robust Yorkshire tweed
- Occasion cloths — morning coat fabrics, black tie options, and country suitings
- Style reference materials — lapel shapes, button stances, lining options, and trouser styles
We cover the full range: wedding suits, business suits, morning dress, and formal evening wear. If you're dressing a wedding party, we can handle multiple fittings in a single Sheffield visit.
For those who prefer to browse in person, our store at 51 Savile Street, Hull is approximately one hour from Sheffield city centre and holds stock across our full range.
